Complex Care Residential Homes

Appropriates roughly $245.6 million for Alaska's integrated comprehensive mental health program, funding legal and advocacy services, community residential centers, corrections health services, and the Alaska Psychiatric Institute, among other mental health programs.

Would have directed the Alaska Department of Education to develop guidelines for age-appropriate mental health instruction in K-12 schools, with districts required to give parents two weeks' notice before such lessons. Governor Dunleavy vetoed the bill, and a legislative attempt to override the veto fell two votes short (38-22).

Would have required Alaska health insurers to cover prosthetic and orthotic devices at a level at least equal to Medicare, guaranteed in-network access to at least two providers (with full reimbursement for out-of-network referrals when needed), and added the devices as an optional Medicaid service. The bill advanced through House committee in early 2026 but did not pass before the legislature adjourned.
